- Anker doesn't publish a compressor power rating; 95 W is the AC adapter and car-socket input rating (also OGL's 'manufacturer wattage').
- Anker's runtime test: empty cooler, Eco mode, 39°F inside, 77°F ambient. That implies about 5.5 W average (≈0.46 Ah/h at 12 V) but it's a derived figure, so drawRating is left blank.
- The 58L dual-zone version's runtime is 39 h on one battery per Anker's site, while its Amazon listing says 52 h; trust the lower figure.
- OutdoorGearLab's 'Anker Everfrost 40' results (5.8 W steady state, 3.3°F average deviation) link to this EverFrost 2 listing, but OGL's measured 56.1 lb is heavier than Anker's 50.7 lb spec; treat the match as likely, not certain.
- Anker lists app control; we could not confirm Wi-Fi support, so we list Bluetooth.
- Anker ships these from AnkerDirect and marks them non-returnable on Amazon because of the battery (hazmat shipping).

How long will a battery run the EverFrost 2 40L?
Estimated runtime on a 100 Ah LiFePO4 battery (about 90 Ah usable) with the fridge set to 37°F and the lid mostly closed. Anker doesn't publish an average draw for this model, so these figures are estimated from its size, calibrated on fridges that do publish one, and are rougher than usual.
| Outside temp | Avg draw | Per day | Runtime | Solar to break even* |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 70°F | 0.56 Ah/h | ~160 Wh | 6.7 days | ~40 W |
| 85°F | 0.81 Ah/h | ~230 Wh | 4.6 days | ~60 W |
| 100°F | 1.07 Ah/h | ~310 Wh | 3.5 days | ~80 W |
* With 5 peak sun hours and 25% system losses. Freezer settings, frequent opening and warm food all add load. Try your own battery and weather in the battery runtime calculator.
The Anker SOLIX EverFrost 2 40L is a single-zone compressor fridge with a removable 288 Wh LiFePO4 battery, six-inch all-terrain wheels and a tow handle that folds down into a small prep table. It costs about $750–800 on Amazon (check today’s price), and it’s our pick for the best battery-powered fridge: the most proven cordless option we track, and the most frugal fridge in OutdoorGearLab’s test group. It’s built for beach days, tailgates and campsites where you want cold food a long way from the car. To see how long it would last on your trip, open the battery runtime calculator.
Who it’s for (and who should skip it)
It’s for people who want a fridge they can wheel away from the vehicle and leave running for a day or two: beachgoers, tailgaters, car campers at walk-in sites, and anyone who doesn’t want to wire a second battery into a vehicle. The battery also charges phones and laptops over 60 W USB-C, which makes it useful beyond the fridge.
Skip it if your fridge will spend most of its life plugged into a vehicle or house battery. In that case you’re paying a lot for a battery and wheels you won’t use, and a plug-in fridge like the ICECO VL45 ProS gives you a Secop compressor and a steel body for about the same money. Also skip it if price matters most: the BougeRV CRD2 V2.0 43QT with battery costs about half as much and adds a second zone, though with a much shorter track record.
Efficiency and cooling
Efficiency is the EverFrost 2’s strongest point. OutdoorGearLab recorded the lowest steady-state draw of its test group for its EverFrost 40 unit, 5.8 W. Anker’s own runtime test implies a similar figure, about 5.5 W on average. Both are mild-condition numbers, and OGL’s tested unit weighed more than Anker’s spec, so we treat its match to this exact model as likely rather than certain.
Temperature control is less impressive. OGL measured about 3.3°F of average deviation from the set point, compared with about half a degree for the best fridges. That’s fine for drinks, produce and most camp food. For raw meat on a hot day, set it a few degrees colder and confirm with a separate thermometer.
The range runs from −4°F to 68°F, so it can work as a freezer, but it’s single zone. If you want fridge and freezer at the same time in an Anker, the EverFrost 2 58L Dual Zone costs about $950.
Battery, runtime and charging
Anker claims up to 52 hours on one battery and 104 hours with a second, measured with the cooler empty, in Eco mode, at 39°F inside and 77°F ambient. Those are best-case conditions. Our own capacity-based estimate is about 259 Wh a day on a 90°F day with the fridge at 37°F, which works out to roughly a day per battery in summer heat. That gap is why we treat runtime claims as a ceiling, not a plan. Our guide to how long a battery will run a 12V fridge explains why ambient temperature matters so much.
Recharging is flexible: AC adapter, 12 V car socket, USB-C or solar up to 100 W. Replacing about 259 Wh a day takes roughly 70 W of panel at five peak sun hours, so a 100 W panel matches the input limit and can roughly keep up in good sun. The weak spot is speed. Charging takes about 3.6 hours even from the wall, so top up during every drive.
Size and handling
At about 50.7 lb, it’s heavy. Mashable found it awkward to lift into a vehicle, and the 29.5 × 18 × 19.4 in footprint takes real cargo space for 42 quarts. The wheels and handle are why it works anyway: on sand, grass or a parking lot you roll it instead of carrying it. Anker’s $60 Road Trip Kit adds clip-on cup, knife and rod holders if you want to use the lid as a table.
Anker lists app control. We couldn’t confirm Wi-Fi support, so expect Bluetooth range.
Reliability and warranty
The Amazon listing shows a 5-year limited warranty, matching Dometic US for the longest coverage among the fridges we track. That’s reassuring for a product with a battery and electronics. One catch: Anker marks it non-returnable on Amazon because of hazmat shipping, so check the fridge carefully on arrival and keep the warranty paperwork.
How it compares
The closest rival is the EcoFlow GLACIER Classic 35L, which has a slightly bigger battery and publishes a low average draw, but has no wheels and a much thinner review record. Our Anker EverFrost 2 vs EcoFlow Glacier Classic comparison covers the trade-offs in detail.
Bottom line
The EverFrost 2 40L is the battery-powered fridge we’d recommend first: very frugal, easy to roll across a campsite, and backed by a long warranty. You pay for that convenience. It costs about twice as much as BougeRV’s battery bundle and holds temperature less tightly than a Dometic. Buy it if cordless days away from the car are the point; otherwise a plug-in ICECO or Dometic is better value. See all the cordless options in our best battery-powered portable fridges guide.
