The verdict

The GO20 is the small fridge to buy if you want better-than-budget parts: a Secop compressor, a removable dual-zone divider and a long record of owner support. It costs far more per quart than the BougeRV 23-quart or Alpicool C20, so pick it for reliability and the split zones, not for value.

What we like

  • Removable divider turns it into two zones with separate digital controls
  • Secop compressor in a 21-quart box, rare at this size
  • App control plus 3-stage battery protection
  • Long track record: ~856 Amazon reviews at 4.4 stars; Red Dot and IDEA design awards

Watch out for

  • $449 for 21 quarts — BougeRV's 23-quart costs about a third as much
  • No handles or tie-down points on the body (an owner complaint on ICECO's site)
  • With the divider in, each zone is very small

How long will a battery run the GO20?

Estimated runtime on a 100 Ah LiFePO4 battery (about 90 Ah usable) with the fridge set to 37°F and the lid mostly closed. ICECO doesn't publish an average draw for this model, so these figures are estimated from its size, calibrated on fridges that do publish one, and are rougher than usual.

ICECO GO20 video review

The ICECO GO20 is a 21-quart compressor fridge with a Secop (Danfoss) compressor and a removable divider that turns it into a two-zone fridge-freezer. It’s built for day trips, tailgates and front-seat road trips, where a 45-quart box would be too big but a $150 budget fridge feels flimsy. It costs about $449 on Amazon, so check today’s price. If you’re weighing it against just buying ice, the fridge vs ice cost calculator puts numbers on it.

Who the GO20 is for (and who should skip it)

It’s for you if you want a small fridge that fits on a passenger seat or in a crossover’s cargo area, with better-than-budget parts. It’s also a good fit if you want a little freezer space, for ice packs, a few frozen meals or ice cream, without buying a big dual-zone unit. It’s the small fridge we’d point to for buyers who care more about reliability than price. Our best small car fridges roundup covers the alternatives.

Skip it if price per quart is what matters. The BougeRV 23 Quart costs about a third as much and holds slightly more, and the Alpicool C20 is similarly cheap. Our BougeRV 23 Quart vs Alpicool C20 comparison covers that budget pair. Skip it too if you’re feeding more than one or two people for more than a day or two. At 21 quarts, there just isn’t room.

Key capabilities

Removable dual-zone divider. This is the GO20’s standout feature. Each side has its own digital controls, so you can freeze on one side and chill on the other. Settings run from 0°F to 50°F. The catch is space: with the divider in, each zone is very small. For most trips, expect to run it as one fridge and add the divider only when you need frozen items.

Secop compressor. Secop compressors are rare in a 21-quart box. Most fridges at this size use an unnamed compressor. ICECO doesn’t publish the exact model, but it covers the compressor for 5 years.

App and battery protection. It has app control and 3-stage battery protection. ICECO’s listing doesn’t say how the app connects, so we wouldn’t buy it for the app alone. The battery protection is what matters if you plug into your car’s socket overnight. See portable fridge battery protection settings for how to set it.

Design. It has won Red Dot and IDEA design awards. It’s about 22.4 × 12.6 × 12.4 inches and weighs about 25.5 lb. That’s carryable, but the body has no handles or tie-down points, a complaint from owners on ICECO’s site.

Power and practical use

ICECO’s product page says the GO20 draws about 45 W in MAX mode, while its VL ProS manual lists 50 W. Neither is an average. We estimate about 225 Wh a day at 90°F outside and 37°F inside, based on its size with a bump for dual-zone use. That’s our estimate, not a measurement. It’s low enough that a 100 Ah lithium house battery would run it for days, and a small power station would last a night or two.

For cordless use, ICECO pairs the GO20 with its PB250 magnetic power bank. That’s 250 Wh, which by our estimate covers roughly a day in 90°F heat and more in milder weather. It’s handy for a beach day or a picnic away from the car, but it isn’t a multi-day solution. Enter your own battery in the battery runtime calculator to see your numbers.

The GO20 comes with both a 12/24 V DC cord and a 100–240 V AC adapter, so you can cool it at home the night before. The ICECO GO20 cover is worth the roughly $69. It adds insulation and gives you the strap points the body lacks.

Reliability and warranty

The GO20 has a long track record, with about 856 Amazon reviews at 4.4 stars. That’s far more owner history than the Dometic CFX2 28, the other premium small fridge we track. ICECO covers the compressor for 5 years and other parts for 1 year. The 1-year term on controls and the fan is the weak spot. Dometic’s 5-year US warranty on the CFX2 28 covers the whole unit, though that fridge costs about $150 more.

Bottom line

The GO20 is the small fridge to buy if you want better-than-budget parts: a Secop compressor, a removable dual-zone divider and a long record of owner support, for about $449. It costs far more per quart than the BougeRV 23 Quart or Alpicool C20, so buy it for reliability and the split zones, not value. Accessories for the GO20

Official and universal add-ons sold on Amazon — insulated covers, batteries, 12V wiring and mounting gear. Check the listing confirms your exact model and size before you buy.

  • Insulated cover
ICECO Insulated Protective Cover for GO20Official ICECO

Owners on ICECO's site recommend it: it adds insulation and gives the GO20 the strap points its body lacks.

  • Battery & power
ICECO PB250 Magnetic Power Bank (250Wh)Official ICECO

ICECO's magnetic 250 Wh pack, which ICECO names as the cordless option for the GO20. It sticks to the fridge and also charges phones. Fine for a small GO20; on the larger VL fridges expect hours rather than days of runtime.

  • Battery & power
    LiTime 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 Battery (Group 31)Universal fit

About 1,280 Wh of lithium storage, enough to run an efficient 45-quart fridge for several days. This is the usual dual-battery or house-battery upgrade for overlanding rigs.

  • Battery & power
EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus Portable Power Station (286Wh)Universal fit

A compact power station with a 12 V car outlet, enough for a night or two on a small fridge. It recharges from the car or solar during the day.

  • Battery & power
Anker SOLIX C300 DC Power Station (288Wh)Universal fit

A budget DC-only power bank with a 12 V car socket. It keeps a small compressor fridge running overnight while the engine is off.

  • 12V wiring
    26 ft 14AWG Heavy-Duty 12V Extension Cord (20A)Universal fit

Heavy 14AWG wire avoids the voltage drop that makes fridges trip their low-battery cut-off when run from the front socket to the back of an SUV or truck bed.

  • 12V wiring
16.4 ft 12V/24V Car Fridge DC Power CordUniversal fit

A longer replacement for the short DC cord most fridges ship with, so the fridge can sit in the cargo area while plugged into a dash socket. Fridge-end plugs differ by brand: confirm the connector matches your model before ordering.

  • 12V wiring
Anderson Power Products SB50 Connector Kit (6 AWG)Universal fit

The standard overlanding connector for a fused, high-current fridge circuit. It is far more secure than a cigarette-lighter plug on washboard roads.

  • 12V wiring
    Renogy 12V 20A DC-to-DC Battery ChargerUniversal fit

Charges a second battery from the alternator while you drive and isolates it from the starter battery, so the fridge can never leave you unable to start the engine.

  • Solar
FlexSolar 100W Portable Solar PanelUniversal fit

A 100 W foldable panel sized for the built-in solar inputs on the Anker EverFrost 2 (100 W max), EcoFlow Glacier Classic (110 W) and BougeRV CRD2 (150 W). Check that the panel's connector or adapter matches your fridge or power station's solar input.

GO20 FAQ

Is the ICECO GO20 really dual zone?
Yes, with a removable divider. With the divider in, you get two zones with separate digital controls, so one side can freeze while the other stays a fridge. Take it out and you have one 21-quart box. With the divider in, each zone is very small, so plan on using the split only when you really need frozen items.
Can the GO20 run without a car?
Yes, with a battery. ICECO pairs it with its 250 Wh PB250 magnetic power bank, sold separately. We estimate the GO20 uses about 225 Wh a day at 90°F outside and 37°F inside, so a PB250 covers roughly a day in hot weather and longer in mild weather. That's our estimate, not a measured runtime.
How much power does the GO20 use?
ICECO's product page says about 45 W in MAX mode, and its VL ProS manual lists 50 W. Those are running figures. Compressor fridges cycle on and off, so the daily average is far lower. We estimate about 225 Wh a day in 90°F heat.
Does the GO20 have handles?
The body has no handles or tie-down points, and owners mention it on ICECO's site. ICECO's insulated GO20 cover (about $69) adds strap points and some insulation, and owners recommend it.
